Phoenix Rising II

In Greek mythology, a phoenix is a long-lived bird that is cyclically reborn. The phoenix returns to life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. Some mythological sources state that the phoenix dies in flames while others claim that the legendary bird dies and simply decomposes before being reborn. The swirling nature of this painting and the interplay of the colors symbolizes the embrionic stage of that rebirth.
